Art for the Soul
Art helps.
Oftentimes when nothing else will.
Drawing, sketching, painting, practicing, digital, three-dimensional, professional. It can be hard to pull out your supplies. It can be harder to come up with ideas. It can be nearly impossible to actually start, let alone finish.
But it helps.
It doesn't have to be perfect.
All it requires is that you create it.
Pictures help.
They inspire. They capture memories. They preserve moments of joy for moments of...less.
They can easily be shared with another.
With a picture, you can dream. Spend a minute or two staring at one. Let the rest of life fall away, forgotten, as you try to notice all the details. The shapes. The colors. Let it take you away, let your imagination soar. It's easy to flip from one picture to the next to the next to the next. So much content, so little time and all that. But every once in a while, feast on something you've come across until you can know it like a friend.
It helps.
Food and friends help.
Especially together.
Try a new recipe, create a game together, give yourself reasons to think, laugh, and enjoy life. How frequently do we hide under a rock because something is too hard, you lack the knowledge or skill to try, or you're too frightened to dream?
Fight this tendency.
You don't know what others know. Let them share their experiences with you. Be open to sharing your own in turn. Do you have to be the best? No. That's not what they're asking for. They're asking for you.
So when it hurts to move, ask a friend to dance with you.
It helps.
