You're 1 in 100 billion

By rough estimates, 100 billion people have ever lived on this earth. To put that into perspective, if every person only lived for one second, one right after the other, it would take 3,171 years to get to everyone. That's only counting how many have ever lived and currently live. It doesn't take into account the future.

So here you are. One second out of three thousand years. Living your life. Eating. Sleeping. Worrying. You pass by other seconds without knowing the full extent of their lives. I'll bet you can't remember most of your own small second of life. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter if you take a few minutes out of your day to read a small article written by another small second.

And yet, it does.

You are 1 in 100 billion.

The choices you are making right now matter. It's a stressful time, and in these difficult times are when we shape ourselves the most. What will you do when there's no milk at the store? How will you react when the only people driving are going ten over the speed limit? Will you work as hard without someone checking over your shoulder?

Who are we? Right now?

And who do we want to be?

How can we get from point A to point B?

The path will be different for each of us. Some will require a few steps back to reevaluate before charging ahead. Some will require a simple shift, one small change to make a big difference. Others will only be traveled one bloody inch at a time. None are easy. All are worth it.

Keep going, my friend. You've done great so far, better than you know, I'd imagine. There's more ahead, but I have confidence you'll find the strength to conquer those mountains too. Alone? Possibly. Friends and family can give you advice and love, but only you can make your own choices to change and grow. I believe you can make it.

Look for help. Take a step. Pause to breathe, then take another. Look around for those you can help, and you'll find the aid you need. You're making a great impact where you're at. Keep going.

You are 1 in 100 billion.
